What are highlights?
This process is the more conventional way to lighten and add depth to your hair. Highlights are created using aluminum foil to help saturate precise strands of hair from root to tip for a more intense lightening effect. In this technique, strands of hair are precisely sectioned out by weaving a pick through small subsections and wrapping the separated strands in aluminum foil.
The effect? A more pronounced contrast between the lightened strands and your base colour that frames your face and adds beautiful dimension to your mane. Highlights follow a more structured pattern and will need to be touched up more often to combat that obvious root grow-out look.
Babylights
Lowlights
For more subtle highlights, try Babylights, a hair-dying technique that mimics the dimensional hair colour commonly occurring naturally on young children’s hair. Babylights can add a soft glow, especially when they are applied to framing pieces around your face. High lights don’t just have to be to create a lighter look!
Lowlights
This technique is a great option if you already have highlights. The colour used for lowlights is as dark as, or darker than, your base hair colour. It results in more dimension and complexity in the tone of your hair, and there is no lift or lightening done, as opposed to highlights also to blend your natural hair when you decide to embrace the natural look.

FAQ
Do I have to be blonde for highlights ?
DON’T – arrive with your hair wet, or in a ponytail / bun / twist out / braid out or any style that stretches or changes your natural curl pattern.
How often do I need it topped up?
With highlights, because not every single hair on your hair is covered, the grow out is softer which allows you to go 8-12 weeks before needing a top up, however this will depend on your hair growth and the contrast from your desired look and natural hair.
What do I have to do before my service?
We ask you to have clean hair and not a build up of product as this can form a barrier and stop allowing the colour to work at is best.
Do I need a skin test for highlights?
Yes, we need to skin test for every colour service and follow all manufactures instructions. Whilst you may not have an allergic reaction to pre lighter/bleach, you could to the toner so a skin test is necessary before any colouring procedure.
Do I need a consultation before service?
If you are new to us or thinking of having colour change we ask our clients to complete an online consultation form so we can start your colour journey.
Do I need to use special products on my hair?
Your stylist will talk you through our product range and what products are best for your hair type, prolong the colour and how to keep your hair healthy.
